Open Water
The Open Water Course is the initial course to become a ‘Qualified Diver’. On this course you will learn the basic theory behind diving, practice in the pool and learn essential skills for any diver. You'll then put these skills into practice in the open water at the end of the course.
Completing the Open Water Course qualifies you to 18m (different depths ratings and supervision are needed for younger divers) and allows you to continue on the journey through the PADI system, or simply get out there and dive!
The Open Water Course is spread over 6 weeks, this way it gives you time to read and understand the material between sessions. Also as we have a practice night for the course each week so if you feel you want to practice or go over something again before your next session, it's no problem.
The Open water course is split into 3 sections: 5 x Theory Sections, 5 x Confined Water Session & 4 x Open Water Dives.
We conduct one theory and one pool session each week and then on the 6th week we conduct the open water dives.

Complete Open Water Courses
There are 2 different options that we offer at Deep Blue for anyway wanting to Complete their Open Water qualification:
1. Standard Open Water Course – This is a set 6 weeks course on set days either on a Thursday evening or Sunday day time. This will get you the full qualification at the end of the course
2. ‘Make your own’ Open Water Course – If you work shifts or find it hard to commit to particular days, why not ‘make your own’ course up. This means we can be flexible on when your course takes place and can be done in a shorter or longer time as necessary to meet your needs.
Referral Courses
What is a Referral? This is a popular option for anyone that has a holiday booked and is subsequently doing the course for that reason. This is when the final four dives are completed on your holiday. This means that all the theory and all the pool work is conducted here before your holiday and we give you a referral form to complete your dives when you’re away.
Perfect for anyone that wants to do their course abroad but not want to sit in the classroom for 2 days of it!
We run 2 different options for the Referral:
1. ‘Make your own’ Referral Course – This is a set 5 weeks program on set days either on a Thursday evening or Sunday day time (run alongside the full Open Water course – bar the final dives on the sixth week)
2. Standard Referral Open Water Course - If you work shifts or find it hard to commit to particular days, why not ‘make your own’ course up. This means we can be flexible on when your course takes place and can be done in a shorter or longer time as necessary to meet your needs.
If you’re not sure where you want to do your dives – NO PROBLEM!!! If you book onto a Referral and then wish to complete the Open Water Dives here then it’s just £50 to complete the course!!
